Since the military coup in 2021, Myanmar has been facing ongoing turmoil and instability. At Heartship Myanmar Japan, we have remained committed to supporting children in Chin State by raising funds to help operate schools, ensuring that education continues despite the crisis.
2021年の軍事クーデター以降、ミャンマーでは混乱と不安定な状況が続いています。ハートシップ・ミャンマー・ジャパンでは、教育の灯を絶やさぬよう、チン州の子どもたちを支援するために学校運営資金の送金など活動を続けてきました。
Earthquake hits Myanmar on Mar 28
In March of this year, Myanmar was struck by a devastating earthquake. Fortunately, Chin State was not significantly affected. However, as a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the people of Myanmar, we felt compelled to respond to the urgent needs in the hardest-hit regions and set up an earthquake relief campaign.

そんな中、今年3月、ミャンマーは大規模な地震に見舞われました。幸いにもチン州には大きな被害はありませんでしたが、ミャンマーを支援する団体として、特に被害の大きかった地域への緊急支援の必要性を感じ、災害支援の募金を呼びかけることとしました。
Nearly ¥300,000 raised for earthquake relief
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise ¥295,000 in one month for earthquake relief. We sincerely thank each and every donor who contributed to this campaign.

被災地への災害支援のために、1か月で295,000円の寄付が集めることができました。ご協力くださった皆様、一人ひとりに心より感謝申し上げます。
Sending funds directly to a local NGO
As we do not have a team on the ground in the affected areas, we have decided to entrust the funds to a local organization that is actively involved in relief efforts. After careful consideration, we have chosen to donate the full amount to the Namlat Foundation, a grassroots NGO based in Myanmar.
We have confirmed their reliability through direct communication between our founder, Sawmi, and the organization’s founder Sai Thiha Naing. We are confident that they will use the funds with integrity and care, and that the money will not fall into the hands of the military junta.
現地NGOへ直接送金
被災地に当団体の現地チームはないため、信頼できる現地の団体に寄付金を託すこととしました。 慎重に検討を重ねた結果、ミャンマーで活動する草の根NGOであるNamlat Foundation（ナムラット・ファウンデーション）に全額を寄付することに決定いたしました。
HMJ代表SawmiとNamlat創設者であるサイ・ティハ・ナインとの間で直接やり取りを行い、団体の信頼性を確認しました。日本からの寄付金は責任を持って適切に活用され、軍政の手に渡ることはないと確信しています。
Relief efforts by the Namlat Foundation
Established in 2020 amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, Namlat Foundation is dedicated to provide essential aid and support to vulnerable communities, particularly during times of hardship.
The organization functions with the help of dedicated volunteers—about 85 working daily, and a total of 340 who have joined their relief efforts since the earthquake. Their ongoing relief work includes:
- Demolishing unsafe and collapsed buildings
- Constructing wells to restore access to clean water
- Building sanitary toilets
- Rebuilding homes
Namlat is currently active in Sagaing Region, which was one of the most severely affected areas, as well as in the Inlay Lake region. Their local knowledge and swift action have made a real difference in supporting communities that are otherwise difficult to reach.
ナムラット・ファウンデーションの活動
新型コロナウィルスパンデミックの最中、2020年に設立されたNamlat Foundationは、緊急時や 困難な時期に必要不可欠な支援を届けることを使命としています。
組織は献身的なボランティアによって支えられており、現在も毎日約85人が活動に従事、地震以降延べ340人が支援活動に参加しています。現在実施している支援活動は以下の通り：
- 倒壊・危険な家屋の解体
- 安全な飲料水確保のための井戸の建設
- 衛生的なトイレの設置
- 家屋の再建
活動地域は、今回の地震で最も大きな被害を受けたサガイン地域と、インレー湖 周辺地域です。 現地をよく知るNamlatの迅速な対応は、他の支援が届きにくい地域の人々にとって大きな支えとなっています。
How We Send Funds to Myanmar
Especially since the military coup, transferring money to Myanmar has become increasingly complicated. In order to avoid the high fees and delays often associated with conventional banking systems, while ensuring that the money reaches its destination securely, we use trusted agents within the Myanmar community.
In this process, we first contact an agent in Japan to confirm the current exchange rate and then provide them with the recipient’s account information in Myanmar. Once we hand over the cash to the agent in Japan, the funds are quickly transferred from their account in Myanmar to the intended recipient’s account.
To ensure transparency and accountability, we ask the agent in Japan to sign a receipt when accepting the cash. After the money is sent, they also provide us with a screenshot confirming the successful transfer.
ミャンマーへの送金方法について
軍事クーデター以降は特に、ミャンマーへの送金は複雑です。銀行を通す場合に比べ手数料や時間のロスを大幅に減らし、安全かつ確実に資金を届けるために、在日ミャンマー人コミュニティの信頼できるエージェントを通じて送金しています。
まず日本国内のエージェントに連絡を取り、現在の為替レートを確認し、送金先となるミャンマーの口座情報を伝えます。日本でエージェントに現金を手渡すと、ミャンマー側のエージェントの口座から指定した口座へ迅速に送金されます。
透明性と信頼性を確保するため、現金を渡す際には日本側のエージェントに領収書にサインをもらい、送金完了後は、取引完了を証明するスクリーンショットも送ってもらいます。
While the Namlat Foundation does not have an official website—a common situation among local groups in Myanmar—their work is visible through their Facebook page.
