本当に久しぶりに中古サッカーグッズをミャンマーの子どもたちに届けることができました！
The last time we were able to deliver used soccer gear to the children of Satawm village, Chin State, Myanmar was in 2018. We had been collecting items for our next delivery, but the outbreak of COVID-19 and the military coup the following year had made it impossible to ship anything for a long time.
前回、ミャンマー・チン州サタウム村の子どもたちに中古のサッカー用具を届けることができたのは、2018年でした。次回分の物資を集めていましたが、コロナウィルスの世界的流行と翌年の軍事クーデターにより、残念ながら日本から物資を送ることが長らく不可能でした。
After three years, finally hearing that shipping goods to Myanmar had become possible, on August 30, 2023, we dispatched two boxes containing used soccer gear and clothing (total weight 56 kg) to Satawm from Japan.
3年ぶりにようやくミャンマーへの物資の輸送が可能になり、2023年8月30日、中古サッカー用具や衣類を詰めたダンボール2箱（総重量56kg）をサタウム村に向けて日本から発送しました。
Shipping Delay due to Ongoing War
In normal circumstances, the shipment duration from Japan to Satawm is about 1 and a half months. However, due to the ongoing chaos in Myanmar, the delivery was significantly delayed. First, the ship from Japan to Yangon which normally takes about 30 – 45 days, took nearly 2 months.
戦闘により 大幅に遅れた輸送
通常であれば、日本からサタウム村まで１ヶ月半ほどで届くところ、今なお混乱が続くミャンマー情勢により、輸送は大幅に遅れました。まず、日本からヤンゴンまで船便で約30～45日のところ、今回は２ヶ月かかりました。
Packages lost for over 2 months
On October 31, 2023, the boxes departed from Yangon to transport hub Kalay which usually takes about 2 days. But confirming this departure, we were unable to track our package for nearly 2 and a half months. The delay was attributed to road closures resulting from conflicts and fighting between the junta and armed groups which had become more aggressive in the fall.
荷物 ２ヶ月以上 行方不明に
10月31日にヤンゴンを出発した後、輸送拠点であるカレーまで車で2日かかるところ、その後２ヶ月半もの間、荷物の行方が分からなくなりました。原因は、秋から特に激しくなった国軍と民間の武装集団との間の激しい戦闘による道路閉鎖でした。
We were about to lose hope that the boxes had gotten lost or even stolen, but luckily they arrived in Kalay on January 12, 2024. This meant it took 3 months and 10 days instead of the usual 2 days. At this point, it had been nearly 5 months since the boxes left Japan.
途中で紛失したのか、盗まれたのか、希望を失いかけていたところ、2024年1月12日、ついににカレーに到着と連絡が！ 通常の2日どころか3カ月と10日かかったことになります。この時点で、日本を出発してから５ヶ月近くです。
The Final Stretch
From Kalay, our contact Vuta facilitated the transfer of the boxes to Tiau village by car. From Tiau, where road conditions are worse, the goods were transported to Satawm village by two motorcycles, each carrying one box.
最後の道のり
いよいよ最後の道のり。現地協力者Vutaの手配でカレーからティアウ村までは車で、そこからは道路状況がさらに悪くなるためサタウム村まで、2台のバイクで1箱ずつ運ばれました。
The moment they were waiting for
The goods were distributed to the children on January 15, 2024, bringing immense joy to the children and their parents. Teachers had informed the children about the impending arrival of goods from Japan without knowing it would take this long, so they had been waiting for this moment for months.
待ちわびた瞬間
2024年1月15日、届いた物資が配られ、子供たちも親たちも大喜び。これほど長くかかるとは知らず、先生から子供たちへ日本からの荷物が届くと伝えられていたため、今か今かと何ヶ月も待ちわびていた子供たちでした。
Reaction of the Children
– Some children asked “Is this a dream?”
– Excitement from the morning distribution led to teachers organizing a sports day in the afternoon.
– Some refused to part with the items even after they got dirty.
– Many slept with the received goods, wearing dirty shirts and holding onto their soccer shoes.
– Unable to wait for it to dry, one child wore the item while it was still wet.

The profound joy experienced by the children resonated with parents and adults, providing a much-needed moment of happiness amid the suffering caused by the military coup.
子どもたちの喜びは、親や大人たちの心にも響き、今なお続く軍事クーデターゆえの苦しい日々の中で、必要とされていた幸せのひとときを提供することとなりました。
